ABOUT OUR CLIENT Our client is a well-established Kenner-area manufacturer of industrial equipment with a long history and a worldwide customer base. Known for building durable, high-performance equipment — and for a culture that invests in the people who build it — they are adding a CAD Technical Illustrator to their team.
THE ROLE This role creates and maintains the dimensional drawings, parts illustrations, and service information that support our client's Parts and Service Manuals across their full product line. Working primarily in AutoCAD, and drawing on engineering 3D models, photographs, and hands-on measurements taken in the factory, this position turns complex equipment into accurate, clear technical documentation. The role works closely with Engineering and the Technical Publications team and spends regular time on the production floor inspecting, measuring, and photographing machines and components.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Create, maintain, and update dimensional drawings for the complete product line
- Develop accurate 2D dimensioned drawings and parts illustrations using AutoCAD 2D and 3D solid modeling
- Create and modify complex 3D solid models to support dimensional drawings and technical illustrations
- Use engineering 3D solid models as a primary resource for parts pages and illustrations
- Supplement engineering models with photographs, measurements, and information gathered directly from equipment in the factory
- Create parts pages and service pictorial information for Parts and Service Manuals
- Work with engineers to determine dimensions, technical details, and written instructions needed for drawings and illustrations
- Provide illustrations, drawings, and supporting graphics to technical writers
- Research technical information to ensure accuracy and correct industry and company terminology
- Safely access equipment as needed, including climbing ladders and working around, over, and underneath machinery
- Maintain organized files for drawings, illustrations, photographs, and related technical information
- Track assigned projects and manage priorities to meet deadlines
- Assist with formatting, editing, and publishing technical documentation
SOFTWARE USED IN THIS ROLE - AutoCAD 2D/3D — dimensional drawings, 3D solid models, and parts illustrations (approx. 60%)
- CorelDRAW — parts pages and technical illustrations (approx. 25%)
- Creo — engineering 3D models as a reference for drawings and parts documentation (approx. 5%)
- Adobe Photoshop — editing photographs for technical publications (approx. 5%)
- Arbortext/Adobe — formatting and publishing technical documentation (approx. 5%)
- Microsoft Office — documentation, tracking, and reporting
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Salary: $60,000 – $70,000, depending on experience

Requirements:
|
|
QUALIFICATIONS - 3–5 years of experience in technical illustration, drafting, engineering documentation, technical writing, or a related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D solid modeling, including creating and modifying complex 3D models to produce 2D dimensioned drawings and parts illustrations
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, photographs, and measurements
- Experience creating parts illustrations, service manuals, technical documentation, or engineering drawings
- Experience with Creo, CorelDRAW, Adobe Photoshop, Arbortext, and Adobe publishing software
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Drafting, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field
- Comfortable working hands-on in a manufacturing environment, including climbing ladders and accessing machinery
